If you take a Continuing Education (CE) course from Morton-Barber Learning Center, we will enter your CE credits. You are responsible for renewing your own producer’s (agent’s) license with the State of Ohio. See further details at: www.insurance.ohio.gov. *Cost of classes are $10 per CE credit hour if you pick and choose, or get all 24 hours of CE for $230.

State of Ohio Continuing Education Regulations

Each individual who is issued an Ohio resident insurance agent’s license shall complete the following: 24 hours of continuing education 3 of the 24 hours must be approved ethics training You shall apply biennially for a renewal of the license on or before the last day of your birth month.

Do not repeat the same course in a single compliance period.

This course is designed to fulfill the four-hour ongoing training requirement for long-term care insurance and long-term care partnerships developed by the NAIC and adopted by many states. It does this in two ways:

The course reinforces and enhances the initial LTCI/LTC partnership training. The concepts and information presented in the initial training are reviewed and supplemented with additional content. All topics required by the NAIC model for both the initial and ongoing training are covered.

In addition, this course serves as an update to the initial training. When training began, partnerships were new, and there were still many questions about how programs would be implemented and how certain matters would handled by the states. Many of these issues have now been resolved and addressed by state regulations, and in Section 4 of the course we provide an extensive discussion of possible situations and the rules that apply. An in other sections of the course, we bring students up to date on trends in long-term care, innovations in long-term care insurance products, LTCI market trends, and developments in other LTC funding methods.

Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) Exam The Securities Industry Essentials (SIE or Essentials) Exam, available beginning October 1, 2018, is a new FINRA exam for prospective securities industry professionals. This introductory-level exam assesses a candidate’s knowledge of basic securities industry information including concepts fundamental to working in the industry, such as types of products and their risks; the structure of the securities industry markets, regulatory agencies and their functions; and prohibited practices. Key Features of the Essentials Exam

The Essentials exam is open to anyone aged 18 or older, including students and prospective candidates interested in demonstrating basic industry knowledge to potential employers.
Association with a firm is not required, and individuals are permitted to take the exam before or after associating with a firm.

The SIE exam topics: Industry terminology, securities products, the structure and function of the markets, regulatory agencies and their function, as well as regulations & prohibitive practices. Self-Study with Book (MBLC Proctored)

Although a classroom course with a live instructor is always preferable, Morton-Barber Learning Center also offers a self-study option for Life, Accident & Health and Property and Casualty. You can pick up a book at our office for $139.95, or we can mail it to you for an additional $8.00 shipping fee. Our self-study book includes all the necessary study material needed to pass the state exam, including a valuable Exam Simulator for online access to a bank of 3000 questions, a “Simulate Your Exam” that may be taken repeatedly and a “Guarantee Exam” that may be taken only twice & best saved for before your state exam.These practice exams are important helpful tools for preparing to pass the state exam. Please call us or stop by our location in Worthington to obtain the book. A registration form will need to be completed by the student at the time of enrollment.Students who want to complete their pre-licensing education by the self-study method are required by the Ohio Department of Insurance to take a “proctored exam” (or pre-exam) at our facility. Our proctored exam is 100 questions. A score of 70% or above is required for a pass to receive the completion certificates required to move on to the state exam. Completion certificates are awarded the same day as the exam. The first proctored exam is included in the purchase of the self-study materials. Re-test fee is $20.
